BBC airs documentary on stop and search

Video looks at various aspects of the controversial police power

A new short film aired on BBC iPlayer – 'Stop and search: the controversial police power' – examines how the it affects people who have been repeatedly subjected to the practice.

Documentary maker Aaron Roach Bridgeman investigates the Section (stop and search legislation) terminology, its interpretation and finds out more from suspects, police, campaigners and others directly affected about the importance of remaining calm.

Features testimony from 'Jamal' who talks about the injustice he experienced, Amal who represents YStopUK, an app project designed to record stop and searches, and Inspector Simon Rotherham, head of profession for stop and search.
