'Stop and search: impact on the community and prospects for reform' - join StopWatch in parliament!

On Tue 17 Mar 5:30-8pm, StopWatch and Diane Abbott MP will host an open discussion on Police Stop and Search in Parliament

StopWatch invite all people interested or impacted by stop and search to attend a panel and audience discussion on stop and search in parliament, 'Stop and search: impact on the community and prospects for reform', hosted by Diane Abbott MP.

The evening presents an opportunity to share experiences of policing / stop and search with politicians and police. With politicians keen to make commitments to voters concerned by stop and search in the run up to the general election, the evening is an opportunity to quiz and challenge both politicians and police about what they are going to do to reform stop and search use to make it more fair, accountable and effective. If, like the KCL Bar Society and Courtenay Griffiths QC, you believe stop and search does more harm than good and cannot be reformed, you have the opportunity to share your point of view in Parliament and ask that politicians repeal the power.

StopWatch will also outline the latest research and good practice on the use of stop and search.

A short panel discussion with Diane Abbott MP, professor Ben Bowling and people disproportionately impacted by stop and search will be followed by an ‘open-mic’ where attendees will have plenty of time to contribute their point of view.

When? Tuesday 17th March – 5:30pm for 6-8pm. Please aim to arrive by 5:30pm as it can take up to half an hour to get through security.

Where? Committee Room 10, Houses of Parliament, London, SW1A 0AA

Please register to attend here.
