Stop and search your PCC - Final list of PCC candidates published

The Home Office has published the final list of running candidates for each of the 41 contested police force areas.

Elections will be held on Thursday 15 November across all of the 41 police force areas in England and Wales to elect a Police & Crime Commissioner, with the exception of London which will have a Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime nominated by the Mayor of London.

You can find out who your candidates are the upcoming Police & Crime Commissioner (PCC) by entering your postcode or police force area into the following website: http://www.choosemypcc.org.uk/

PCCs are part of the coalition government’s radical reform of British policing. Their responsibilities include setting the priorities of their police force area, deciding how much money is allocated to each of the various policing activities (eg antisocial behaviour, counterterrorism, neighbourhood watch, rehabilitation, etc) and they also hold the power to hire and fire chief constables. They will replace the role of the current Independent Police Authorities and come into effect a week after the vote on Thursday 22 November.
